It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been to university or not, what you’ve studied, or what path you’ve chosen.

We are looking for people with creative minds, a curiosity about what makes the world tick, an interesting story and a life well lived. People who are ready to think, to do and to make, and to be surrounded by other inspirational creative people while bringing their own special energy to life in the agency.

If you’re successful, you will jump in and gain first-hand experience in the account service, creative service, planning and production departments before hopefully taking up a longer term position in the agency.

The recruitment process is in two stages – the first is providing answers to the questions below. This stage is open until 29.09.

If we like your answers, you’ll be invited to participate in the final stage where you’ll be assessed in person while completing an agency style group task. You will receive the invite by 20.10 to come to Melbourne for the group task assessment on w/c 06.11.

Please note, you will need to have the right to work in Australia to participate in the program.

How to apply

In this first stage there are two questions to answer.

Your first answer should be in the format of a video, no longer than 90 seconds. The second question requires a written response of no more than 300 words.

We’ve deliberately left the questions quite open to allow you to show your personality and creativity, so don’t hold back.

What you
need to know

What’s account service?

These guys are responsible for the client and oversee the whole creative process from taking a brief to delivery of the finished project, working closely with all of the specialist departments in the agency and talking with the clients every day.

They have their fingers in all the pies.

What’s planning?

The planning department is responsible for account strategy – from top level business strategy of a client to the more specific strategy for a given marketing campaign. They work closely with the client and account service to define the problem and develop the brief, and then with creatives to ensure their ideas are in the right space.

They can do things in Keynote that will blow your mind.

What’s production?

These people are responsible for taking the approved idea and turning it into a real thing, whether that’s a film, an app, an event, a poster, a website, or anything else. They work closely with the creatives to ensure their vision is brought to reality, and account service to ensure client objectives are met.

They are the mother (or father) of dragons.

What would I be doing?

You’ll spend the first three months rotating around the key departments in the agency. The remaining time will be spent in one of these departments, chosen based on an evaluation of your skills and performance in the rotation. You’ll be supporting the teams in the delivery of real work for clients, learning the ropes and taking on more responsibility as time progresses.

When would I start and what will I earn?

It’s a full time position that will run from January to December 2018. You would receive about $3,300 a month before tax.

Could I get a job as a creative?

Never say never, but that’s not what this programme is about.

What happens at the end of the programme?

If you’ve had a good year then we’ll certainly want to keep you and will offer you a permanent position. That’s why the program exists – to unearth the bright stars of the future – and in previous years most graduates have been offered a job. Worst case scenario you’ll leave with a year’s amazing experience at the most successful agency in Australia.

Are there any minimum criteria for application?

You don’t need to have any specific academic qualifications. In this instance we’re more interested in how you think, how you behave and the kind of person you are. We’re looking for people that will thrive in a fast paced agency environment, so enthusiasm, dedication and good communication are a must. But beyond that, it’s up to you.

Can I apply from abroad?

You need to have the legal right to work in Australia. If you have that, then you can apply from anywhere you like.

What are the key dates?

Stage one answers need to be submitted by 29.09. We’ll review them, and inform you if you’ve been selected for the group task day by 20.10. The group task day will be held on w/c 06.11, with successful applicants announced on 22.11.

How will you judge my question answers?

This is always going to be a bit subjective, but we want to get a feeling for who you are, how you think, how you’ve got where you are, and how you might fit in the agency.

What do you mean by agency style group task?

We will invite a number of you along to the same location, divide you into several groups and brief you all on an advertising task, such as the creation of a campaign idea. We’ll then observe how you work as a group throughout the whole process, and how you present your final thinking at the end of the day.
